Your 2010

Hey everyone!

Being back to work is a downer...but thank God for my job! As much as I could complain about late shows, pain-in-the-ass production companies and not enough hours in the day to deal with all the drama, I won't....because I'm truly grateful to not only be employed, but to actually have a job that I love.

As I was perusing Witches Brew on Facebook, one of their status updates asked this simple question: As the year comes to a close, what's been the highlight of your 2010?

I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just one thing, so I'll have to think about it as far as THE highlight is concerned....but I'd love to hear yours! What has been your most memorable moment(s) of 2010? And what are you looking forward to most in 2011?

Go!

Most memorable moment for me right now is my first public speaking engagement.

I am not sure that will be topped by the end of the year...Although, my divorce finalizing is a close second.

As for 2011...i am trying to get into grad school. That is the hope.

Great question, not sure I can narrow it down either.

I guess my most memorable moment so far has been meeting my current guy friend. Things are looking good between us, and I'm just trying to enjoy it.

As for 2011, I'd love to see how things progress between us. I'm also looking forward to a promotion, so fingers crossed!

I hope everyone had a great 2010 and will have an even better 2011!

1. Discovering the hustler's spirit I never knew I had after getting laid off. It's been almost a year and I'm still here.

2. My Mother.

3. My best friend Tracie's wedding.

4. My Witches :-)

Looking ahead: I hope to be able to do what I love and get paid for it. And finally get that Mini Cooper I've been lusting for...and the dog too! I'd like some lovin' but I know that will happen when the Universe thinks I'm ready for it.

Happy New Year y'all.

The highlight of my 2010 has been reconnecting with family and long lost friends. Time is too precious to waste on trivial grudges and being angry for no reason. I hope to reconnect and build stronger relationships in 2011.

Brooke, I also look forward to getting to know you better - and not just thru the blog ;)

Happy Holidays everyone!

Highlights 2010 from Serena...

1. The reconnections that took place after Mom's death. I'm still reconnecting with many from the dance company she was in and the love is amazing. I'm so thankful.

2. Getting a new job that I enjoy so much and being back in arts education. I know the goal was to work on my own, but God had other plans. Still got the side hustle going though...

3. Piecing my book together. It's a steady work in progress but to see it almost come to light is amazing.

4. Tighter bond my family now has...God is amazing and Mom has moved mountains up there for us below.

5. The birth of my godson DJ, and my other 2 friends that had babies.

6. Finding out that 5 of my friends are all preggers (in death God gives you life).

7. Reconnecting with a special friend. I hope it continues to be special for us in 2011 and beyond.

8. Being able to get back on the stage and do spoken word, being featured and even paid to do gigs. I thought I lost it after losing Mom, but instead I regained my strength and got back out there.

9. Becoming a co-guardian for my sister Christina Wills. What a way to end my year.

What I'm looking forward to in 2011 is the births of all of the babies (5 and counting).

The birth of my books (Pieces of Life Volume 1 and Crying Tears of Teal). It's been time!

Hoping to grow with my special one. He's something...and in a great way.

Hopefully a trip to Africa in the mix.

Everyone be blessed and know that despite all of the loss...God gave me something to highlight.

Without a doubt, turning 30 was the highlight of my year--talk about life-changing! I'm thinking more clearly, feeling more confident, and am closer to God than ever. Since turning 30, I've:

-Been promoted in my current job and have officially doubled the salary I was making in May 09 when I left my last job.

-Moved out on my own for the first time in my life.

-Gotten back into a healthier lifestyle--down a little over 30 lbs so far!!

My year came in well, and it's ending well. I am BEYOND blessed, and looking forward to 2011.
