Happy Random Thoughts Thursday!

- If I never see snow ever again, it'll be too soon. For a minute I thought I was back in Syracuse this morning! This snow is for the birds man...or the penguins...or polar bears...or something!

- At least I have a lunch screening today so I don't have to go out to get food :-)

- I'm sure by now you've all heard about Kelley Williams-Bolar, the woman who was sent to jail in Akron, OH for sending her kids to the wrong district. If you’d like to help her and make the broader and important point about educational inequality in America, please take the time to send a short note of concern to the state representatives in the area. The information is below:

For Summit County (the county that Akron is in) the state representatives are:

Lynn Slaby (Republican):
Kristina Roegner (Republican):
Todd McKenney (Republican):
Vernon Sykes:
Zack Milkovich (Democrat):

House members website:
The state senator for that area is Frank LaRose (Republican):
Senate members website:

Also, is doing a petition on behalf of Kelly, which I also encourage you to sign. This story is ridiculous.

- I love Dr. Oz!

- Every time I see a commercial for $3 check cashing at Walmart, I wonder who these people are that don't have checking accounts. I don't mean to be ignorant, but what would be a reason to NOT have a checking account? Someone please break it down for me.

- I saw women commuting to work today in slushy, icy, snowy conditions. There's not that much "fashion sense" in the world.

- Lil Wayne has ANOTHER kid? Geesh!

- They added another show for Janet Jackson at Radio City Music Hall. Why are they messin' with me!?

- Speaking of a Jackson, Rebbie Jackson is on The View. Where has SHE been all this time? "And it's crawling like a Centipede!"

- I bought adult "gummy" multi-vitamins and I love them! I feel like a little kid though in the morning every time I take them :-)

- I'm over Life Cinnamon cereal now...back to my Honey Bunches of Oats and Special K Vanilla Almond cereal!

- I tried the McDonald's oatmeal because everyone was raving about it. It was good, very filling, but it wasn't crack! I think maple brown sugar cream of wheat is better :-)

- I'm praying for motivation to go to the gym tonight. Weather like this just makes you want to go home, cuddle on the couch and eat in front of the tv. But I'm gonna do it!

- I love surprising my sister with gifts. She's an awesome sister, wife and mother - she deserves it :-)

- Brian's throwback of the week!

Well I tried being second. Stef got it!

It took me 4 hours to get home last night. On the highway by my apt 16 cars were stuck and blocked the highway because all of our lovely tax dollars didn't have plows and salt out when the storm hit! (Refresher...I live in the DC area...I know Obama has jokes about how the weather has been handled).

C'MON SON! I want my tax dollars to work for me!

I don't think Mother Nature likes Mike Bloomberg which is why NYC keeps getting dumped on. Oust him like they did the President of Tunisia lol.

It took President Obama an hour to get from Andrews AFB to the White House last night. The commute is no longer than 20 minutes.

1 guy was outraged! He was stranded on the GW Parkway for 13 hours with other motorists. Like I said...where are my tax dollars and why aren't they working for us?

I had a good week despite crazy snow.

Working from home today and love it.

I ate at Cracker Barrel this week! YUMMY!

Brooke I think its sweet how much you and your sister adore each other. I'm having some commuication problems with mine that lives in the same state as me. Pray for us.

When is the first day of spring?

I wanna go to the Miami Jazz Fest in March.

I have a job interview tomorrow night for a second job (part time) wish me luck.

Still writing, been a little quiet, just trying to get the final product together.

I feel very blessed.

Love my friends and family.

Reading Brooke's blog makes me happy :)

Be back after I eat lunch!

Powerz said...

I thought the same thing about the $3 checking at Walmart!

I love Cracker Barrel, why the hell there isn't one in NY. I get it once a year when I take my kids to Sesama Place!

Why doesn't the NY Stock Exchange take a snow day?

Why did I shovel for an hour this morning and didn't even have to drive! Anna got lucky! lol

I think all this snow is my fault. I really wanted to go skiing for the first time this winter....sorry folks!

I know this is a day late but:

Judge Alex is cool!

Serena W. said...

The closest Cracker Barrel to me is 30 minutes away and we made the hike! Right by my doctor so I went after my appt so it was a date! LOL!!!

I have neighbors still stuck on the hill. They abandoned their cars last night and called it a day. They are still out there.

I signed the petition. I think that is awful. Parents gotta do what they gotta do. If there was equal education all over the state then parents wouldn't be forced to "change" addresses so their kids can get the best education.

Brooke at my last job every session we had with adults there was always a hand full that didn't have checking accounts. They cashed their checks at the local liquor store or check cashing place. I was always happy when we invited a credit union or bank in and folks would sign up. Some were afraid because they were never taught financial literacy. They thought they would get tracked, etc.

I may take a nap later, sounds great on a snow day (or any day of the week).

Watch a movie (maybe Brown Sugar or Love Jones).

When is the first day of spring again??? LOL.

I had to shovel for 2 hours this morning!!!!

I need the Spring to get here fast!!

Annamaria said...

Happy Snow Day from the comfort of my couch. :)

Powerz was out shoveling at 5:30am

Did I mention my office is closed & I got a free day off...

I'm becoming the bride to be that Ms. Nay worked hard for me to dress shopping on Sunday

2011 is becoming the year for the vibrator. I've got about 5 parties coming up in the next month!!

All this snow is worrying me.... I'm scared to see what this spring & summer is gonna be like.

My child is feeling much better thank god. She climbed up on the coffee table today, she tried to climb up the DVD case & is basically driving me crazy! lol

I need a nap.

P.S.-Cracker Barrel is CRACK.....

whassup yall.

- Sorry yall are bogged down with the snow. If I know anything, I know NYC/DC are handling it better than ATL. These backwards-azzes had 20 (TWUN-TEE) pieces of equipment to handle the snow/ice in the entire MAJOR metropolitan city.

- Then again, why am I surprised...I can't even buy Crown Royal on Sundays in this city. For the love of Peter, Paul AND Mary.

- "Family Guy" is pretty stupid, but I laugh at it. Alot.

- Check out the latest Real Sports on HBO about broke NFL players after their careers and broke-down NFL linemen having trouble living the life of a 300 + pound man. Good episode, but damn...

- Ted Williams gave up on rehab. Let's see what happens next.

- Kevin Hart is hilarious. Check him out as "Chocolate Drop", the next hot rapper.

- Need a hot new business card?
Try Dmoe approved.

- Lunch was lame just now. Totally forgettable sandwich and chips. But the Snapple? Deliciousness.

Stay thirsty.

Brooke said...

Snapple is CRACK!

Cracker Barrel is too, but haven't been to one in a while...and they have them in not sure why I don't go more often.

Just ate pizza and salad - gotta love lunch time screenings!

Screened a new series for A&E - I really like it!

I love when my friends watch A&E or I read status updates on FB about shows that I work on. Makes me feel like being Kizzy is worth it :-)

Kevin Hart will be back in NY in April - might check him.

DMoe - can you get me Knicks tix for 2/11? Pretty Please :)

Sorry about the traffic Serena! That sucks. But good luck on the job interview tomorrow!

I'm glad the blog makes you happy :) You all make ME happy :)

Also glad SoSo is feeling better :)

The Ted Williams thing is so sad - I hope he makes it.

What exactly is Crown Royal anyway ;)

I hope we have a boiling hot summer to make up for all this snow!

- I saw that Chocolate Drop clip last week...cracked me up!

- helped my mother get a car yesterday by taking care of her down payment. I'm not rich - but I am. We ALL are.

- my sister calls me with big news before my mother...or anyone else for that matter.

- I love when they provide food at work...

- "Jersey Shore" AND the season premiere of "Archer" tonight! I'll be in TV heaven.

- I don't eff with Cracker Barrel...and def not Mcdonald's...

- My boy just found the crack for PS3. He's already downloaded like 10 games for free.99. I WILL be catching up with him next week to get my crack on!!

- If the Packers win, it will be the 2nd year in a row I correctly picked the Super Bowl champion before the season began. I may seriously make a wager next year if they win...

- Sports haters are funny. When your team loses (in my case, Syracuse and the Lakers) they're all over it, offering their 2 cents. But I often make them feel quite foolish when I point out the records and success rate of MY team as opposed to theirs - and how I don't even think to call/text/e-mail/Facebook them when their pathetic teams lose...

- Haven't seen my girl in a few days. Miss her...

- They've been playing The Dark Knight on TNT lately. Such a preposterously great film, it's still incomprehensible to me how they got it so right, and made it so deep.

Whenever I go in Cracker Barrel I feel like I'm in 1820 and someone is going to ask for my freedom papers

This snow is not the business. If you see me wearing a triple fat goose over my supervillain outfit, please don't act brand new

Heard Marvel killed off The Human Torch...he'll be back. they always bring the dead heroes back.

...except Iron Fist. He stayed dead, didn't he?

Lades, just because it looks like Santa's front yard outside, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to be sexy for your man.

Hello to all the sexy ladies on the blog. Y'all don't have to try. Just be who you are ;-)

Serena W. said...

Fury cracked me up when he said he feels like someone is going to ask for his freedom papers in Cracker Barrel! Hilarious!

DMoe!!! For the love of Peter, Paul and Mary! You can't buy Crown Royal in ATL on a Sunday? Sheesh!

Ummmm Brooke. Crown Royal is a dark, smooth liquor. Did I say smooth?

I don't want to drive for like a month after last night!

Eating ice cream! Edy's Peanut Butter Cup. Yummy!

Chilling on my couch under a blanket. This will be a chill day!

They are talking more possible snow tomorrow! Oy vey!

Let's just get tomorrow off and call it a long weekend!

Brooke said...

My company has only closed ONCE in the 7 and a hlaf years I've been here for snow...and that was the Monday after the blizzard of 2010 - and I was already scheduled to be it was no snow day for me. We've been told to come to work ever since. That blows.

I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel since college - was it really like THAT? I was in HIlton Head...but freedom papers? I guess I don't really have that much of a memory of that place.

I've never had Crown Royal before, but dark liquor tends to make me hot and burns my chest :)

I'm sexy no matter the weather Fury ;)

Annamaria said...

@Brooke...You should know what Crown is.. LOL I kinda wanna tase you for not knowing..... But since I love you I won't..THIS TIME

Freedom papers??? LMAO

I have NEVER had as many snow days as I have had working at this company... Perk of a non profit!!

- I just found out what March 14th was... :)

Annamaria said...

If you aren't ready for Valentine's Day yet get ready:

@Ant: calling this a LITTLE bit of snow is like calling the grand canyon a small hole.

Brooke said...

SoSo needs to comment more often :)

Annamaria, I'm not much of a drinker! :)

Stef said...

what is March 14th?

Brooke said...

It's "Steak and BJ Day" - kinda like Valentine's Day for men...

Anthony Otero said... me I live in Syracuse. THe snow you get is nothing.

March 14th is Steak and BJ Day. Look it up. :)

It is the man's version of V-day and it is pretty self explanatory. lol

Annamaria said...

She typed it all by herself & giggled the whole time..

I know you aren't much of a drinker which is why I put the taser away! lol

Annamaria said...

Stef said...

How come I don't know about this March 14th?? LOL!

A man HAD to make that up!

The Cable Guy said...

How come I didn't know about this Steak and BJ Day either!? I can get wit dat!!

Brooke, I get you on the $3 checking. Paying bills with money orders is wack.

The throwback was hot, and just what I needed to see on this cold, snowy day.

Just wanna stay in the truck.

Not really checkin for the Pro Bowl. But I hope the Steelers win.

Brooke is definitely sexy in all weather :)

Anthony Otero said...

From Urban Dictionary:

Steak and BJ Day was invented by Tom Birdsey, may he live forever, and may the gods eternally bless his fate. Men everywhere should build shrines and worship this man, who has been so kind as to bless us with a day devoted entirely to devouring massive hunks of cowflesh and having one's member gobbled. Truly, he is a saint among swine, and deserving of the highest accolades in the worlds beyond.

Seriously though, Steak and BJ Day was invented as a response to Valentine's Day, a day in which men get the 'privilege' of showing their affection for their significant other by spending ludicrous amounts of time, money, and effort in showering them in gifts, dinners, shows, and various other things to show them just how special they are to us.

Isn't it about time that there was a day just like that, but devoted to having the ladies show men just how much they appreciate them? Thanks to Steak and BJ Day, this dream has finally come true.

:) I like my steak medium rare. haha

Brooke said...

Ummm Ant,

I hear what you're saying, but honestly, I don't know too many men who do all the work on Valentine's Day and their women sit back and do nothing. If anything, most women I know are the ones making a big deal out of it for their men and the men are just like "ehhh."

Stef said...

Amen Brooke!

My man gets a steak and BJ on Valentines Day anyway, so no need for March 14th!

Anthony Otero said...

interesting because I know I have not gotten a steak and bj on the same day...

...and i am no slouch with it comes to V-day but I guess it is my luck.

Annamaria said...

@Ant & all you other men that need March 14th...

I don't even believe in Valentine's day! You should love & be nice to your mate everyday NOT just once a year....

Courtney said...

Well, I don't have a problem with a day celebrating love - no matter the origin. It's no different than celebrating a birthday or anniversay in my opinion. But to each his/her own.

But a steak and a BJ is a given if you ask me, so I agree, Ant you must be dating the wrong women.

Serena W. said...

I love SoSo's comments!!! She does need to chime in more!

Make that loot Annamaria at your passion parties :)

Brooke that's crazy about your job having 1 snow day in how long? Wow!

Having breakfast for dinner! IHOP night!

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. Just want to telecommute.

Sigh...its all good. Thankful I have a job :)
