Happy Hump Day!

So this morning, Leesa emails Amanda, Sandee and I pictures of her favorite boo - T.I. She and Sandee are absolutely in love with him. Amanda and I....not so much :-)

Before I get into it - Leesa and Sandee - this is for you :-)

Now, don't get me wrong, I like T.I. I think he's talented. I like his music. He's cute. But could he get it? No. Why? He's so LITTLE! He's just tiny to me :-)

(no pun intended) :-)

I've dated men shorter than me before, but T.I. just looks like a kid to me. I know he's a grown man, but that's not what I see when I look at him. I don't know what it is, but he just doesn't do it for me. I feel like I'd break him or something :-)

I'm sure we all have something that we always look for in the opposite sex - eyes, lips, smile, complexion, height, hair, personality, etc. But just as we have our "likes," we have our "dislikes" as well. Some of us could never date anyone shorter than we are, or who have jacked up teeth, or who smoke, or who have tattoos. Whatever it is, we all have something we wouldn't like in the opposite sex to the point where we would never even consider getting with them.

What are your likes and dislikes in the opposite sex? What kind of man or woman could you absolutely NEVER date? Do you have a type?

For me - if a man has a warm smile, a wonderful set of teeth, friendly eyes and a great sense of humor - I'm hooked. I say I love tall men, but I never seem to date them. There's a difference I think between what we like or would prefer, and who we actually always end up dating :-)

Do you feel you date your type? Or do you dare to date outside your comfort zone?

I don't really have a "type" but maybe I'll try to be daring in 2009 and step out of my comfort zone. So Leesa and Sandee...watch out! I may steal T.I.'s lil ass away from you! LOL!!

Have a great day!

The ghetto mouthed, Shenene type can NEVER get it. You have to be able to open your mouth and say something that resembles intelligence and proper expression. I'm a sucker for a pretty face, but if that mouth is ugly...ehhh can't do it...unless she's REALLY fine then I'd have to figure out a way to keep her from talking;-) LOL

Brooke said...

So you're saying a girl who walks around saying (**in my best Shanene voice**) "Oh no you didn't!" couldn't get it? :-)

I'm sure you'd find a way to keep her quiet... ;-)

She'd have to look like Halle Berry to even get my attention and even then ughhhh!! I can't stand a dumb ass woman!

Although I do think TI is a cutie pie I am with you on this one Brooke. Even with my 5 foot a** I LOVE A BIG GUY! Something about a dude that can pick me up & throw me around just does it for me. I love me some big arms, a wide linebacker back, and some broad shoulders!!!! I mean if I can look you in the eye OR I feel like too much for you then WE DEFINITELY HAVE A PROBLEM! lol

Brooke said...

LOL!!

Well, finding a dude bigger than you shouldn't be a problem at all. I think T.I. towers over you with his small ass! LMAO!

But I feel you. It's hard for me to find a tall, big guy because I'm tall myself. Most men that are 6' and above I find usually like to date little ass women like you! LOL!! Meanwhile, the T.I.'s of the world approach me like "girl, I wanna climb that tree!"

There's a guy that works at the florist across the street who is probably all of 4'11' and has NO PROBLEM stepping to me everyday. He puts his mack DOWN! But I just can't do it...I'd probably break his little back :-) LMAO!

Big Tune!...I had been in the A for three months so you know I hear this song all of the time. Ironically, I think he is performing tonight in NYC.

I don't have a particular type. But I do like tall women. I am 6' 9'' so if they are taller than than then that's great!lol

Seriously speaking, tall women are cool but not necessary, Common sense is important. I don't care how many degrees you have have if you don't have any common sense it's not happening. Someone who is fun, outgoing, open minded and optomistic. Lastly Drama free.

I will not date anyone who is dramatic, judgementmental to others but not themsleves, and selfish.

On a physical level it can vary but the common denominator would be nice eyes.

Brookey-Would you date a midget if he had a nice smile and made you laugh?

Brooke said...

No, I wouldn't...and again, it goes back to the kid thing. It's not that a man is short that bothers me, it's if he looks like a child. And midgets look like children to me. I would feel like a pedophile :-)

And I think you meant you are 5'9, not 6'9 :-)

You forgot to mention you like Dominican women who you can cook and ice skate with! LMAO!!

Rene The Harlemite said...

lol...Nah add three inches on the height and then we are percise.

I try Brooke but when they realize I speak better Spanish than them they get upset. I don't understand they should be happy I know their vernacular language.

I am going to get Rosetta Stone for Portugese for Christmas and try that for size! LMAO!

Brooke said...

Oh, see...you tryna start trouble on my blog! Three inches? She's tall enough don't you think? With boots on anyway.... ;-)

At least she has very nice eyes :-)

Peggy said...

I can't do ghetto mentalities and jacked up teeth. Oh and straight up hard core atheist is a no no. I love sincere eyes, great smiles, wonderful sense of humor and as long as you are taller then me when I'm rocking my heels, we're good!

Was with someome for a little under two years that was just an inch taller than me...it hurt soooooooo bad to have to put my stilettos away for that time. LOL

I've dated my physical type twice and am in a relationship with my type now. But I've dated and have been in realtionships with men who were not necessarily "my type", but were wonderful and captured my heart nonetheless.

BTW, T.I. is a little cutie, but because he is "little guy" he would never be able to get it...I honestly wouldn't be able to take him serious. Hee Hee Hee

Brooke said...

I don't even wear stilettos like that, so imagine if I did! I'd be like 6'2"! Tall men just don't approach me like shorter men do. I don't understand it, but it is what it is.

I've been 5'10" since I was 14, so I got used to men being shorter than me for a long time. Now I find that I date or attract men who are pretty much my same height. But they could care less if I wear my high heeled boots, and their confidence and being secure in themselves in a turn-on. I just don't want to miss out on a great guy over a couple of inches...as long as he looks like a grown ass man! LOL!!

I love THE LOCK! Maybe one day I'll explain "THE LOCK" to the group. :-)

Brooke said...

I think maybe you should keep "The Lock" to yourself! LOL!

momo925 said...

ok now I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some T.I with his height challenged self! LOL I have seen him in person and he is even smaller than I originally thought he was. Although I normally don't like men that are that short/petite or speak with accents (especially country ones), I think he is just adorable. Perhaps it's his "swagger" (or his napoleon complex lol). Even though he's tiny,he just moves with an "I know I'm as tall as a giant" mentality and that is what is attractive me. Men with confidence that are not looking to you for validation because they already know about themselves what you are eager to find out. They might not be the finest or tallest dudes to ever walk the planet...they might not have everything in the world going for themselves...but the drive and confidence (not to be confused with arrogance) they have it what makes them sexy.

Anonymous said...

I also like a man who can be a gentleman as well as a thug sometimes. MEANING: I want you to be able to look good in a suit and in a pair of jeans & timbs!
I hate to see dudes that just look uncomfortable dressed up OR corny when they dress down. I like for my man to be versitile! lol

Brooke said...

Swagger, confidence, assertiveness - all of that plays a major part...no doubt. And I do think T.I. has a certain swagger about him. It just needs to come in Man-Size for us grown women :-) LOL!!

I agree Annamaria - a man who is confident in himself can wear anything and look great.

Man, I love me a big football player looking dude but TALL too...6 and up and I tend to me more attracted to dark skin men…
Oh and you know in my eyes the most perfect man in the world is Idris Elba…Now that’s a MAN! YUM!!! Chris Webber and that damn smile…delicious ;-)
I don’t like pretty boys, not even a little bit. I like very masculine looking men.
Michael Strahan is cute with a fresh cut even though he looks like he’s missing a tooth.
I'm just not attracted to short men...but I do have a SERIOUS crush on Don Cheadle...WTF?! But that's it. Tall men seem to like me too...good :-) I dated a short guy ONCE and boy can we say napoleon complex. I’m not saying all short men have it but he definitely did. I prefer my man to tower over me. But if it's in God's will that my husband be a short GREAT man. I'll take him :-)

I will not date a yuk mouth or a dude that smokes cigarettes...nah, man! Intelligence, compassion and a great sense of humor are all very sexy! But please no ear wax or dirty finger nails, LMAO!

Brooke - Leave Rene alone ;-)

Random Thought: Those kids in Role Models were hilarious!
Whispering Eye ;-)

Brooke- I love this blog and glad to hear that intelligence is valued in a woman by some of the males on here. Personally I've dated men who are shorter, taller (I'm 5'11) and somewhere in between. I def prefer the taller guys who have a nice body and teeth/smile, but all in the two sexiest characteristics for me in my ideal man are his brain (i.e. intelligence) and confidence/swagger. There's absolutely nothing sexier when you combine those two things... no matter what he looks like. That's my two cents...

Rene The Harlemite said...

No Drama. Just here to spread love! That's all! lol! I don't hate on them. They get mad a me. I may just have to stick to French. lol

Boot game is nice asset to have.
The eyes are a pathway to the soul...

I’ve notice the older I’ve become the more open I am to different types of men. I remember when I was only interested in men that were 6”or taller ONLY. If you were T.I.’s height or smaller I thought you wanted me to take you to the movies or buy you some ice cream. But I guess with time and maturity I’ve become more open to all types of men. Now when I look at T.I. (my fake husband) I don’t see a man/boy like some of you guys. I see the opposite. I see a confident, handsome, funny, talented and stylish dude. Those are some of the many qualities I look for in any man tallor short. And I’m so glad that I’ve been able to broaden my options to include all types of men out there at this point! Now I still have my limits you must have great hygiene, teeth, job and a place to live (just to name a few). Some things I won’t and can’t play
with!!!!!

Rene! You don't speak Spanish! Stop it! Well def not better than this Dominican ;-)

Brooke said...

Lovers quarrel? Okay Amanda, I'll leave your boo alone :-) You have a good boot game right? ;-)

Leesa, you're right - I think we change a bit as we get older and wiser. We have our core standards and I believe we shouldn't settle, but I think we have to make sure we don't miss out on a good thing because we're looking through superficial glasses or our "standards" are unrealistic.

Rene The Harlemite said...

See, I did not even say a word in Spanish and there's competition. lol

But seriously, a woman and to have some spirituality to her. That does not mean that she has to be a Church, Mosque, Temple goer but the know that there is someone up above and respect that.

There's something about a tall man that has always caught my attention. A lot of the men I happen to find attractive are tall and dark with a slight touch of hoodness. Not ghetto, just manly (white t-shirt, {clean} jeans and some Timbs). It's like having your favorite blanket wrapped around you!

BTW, TI is my guilty pleasure...Not my type at all but there's something about that midget!

Brooke said...

LOL!! Usher used to be my guilty pleasure, but HE GROWN NOW!

Now, you know how epitomizes sexy to me and is PHYSICALLY not my type at all? BARACK OBAMA!

Amanda and I were talking about him last night. Where are all the Barack's at??? He's intelligent, charismatic, personable, has integrity, an infectious smile, genuine eyes and expression and is witty. Talk about swagger! (Rene, your favorite over-used word!) Barack Obama has IT. That IT factor. Confidence, determination, is spiritual, dynamic yet humble and approachable. You name it, he has it...with his tall, skinny self!

momo925 said...

Brooke told me what you said Rene! All I have to say is...don't start none... won't be none! LOL :p

Anonymous said...

Seriously, with the exception of his weight and charcoal lips Barack is the epitome of a perfect man--husband material!

I have so many good, single girlfriends that deserve a man with that much class and yes, swagger! There's just not enough of them!! When that Barack walks across a room people have no choice but to look at him. I love that about him.

Brooke said...

He commands attention. You hang on his every word. Love him!

Yes, so many of us deserve a Barack, but we have to make sure we're a "Michelle" too....she's no slouch! LOL!!

Anonymous said...

I LOVE ME SOME BARACK!! He is THE TOTAL PACKAGE YUMMY! :) Michelle did good REAL GOOD! LOL

Rene The Harlemite said...

Nomo...I mean Monica ( Yeah, I know your government) lol!

I did not start anything and my comment was directed towards you.

I understand Sesitive thugs need a hug! :)LOL!!

Rene The Harlemite said...

Whoops! I meant to say my comment was NOT directed towards you Monica. :)

Be Clear...Idris Elba ain't got SHIT on Barack!

Brooke said...

There aren't too many men who DO got shit on Barack! LOL!!

Rene, all I'm gonna say is, you better stop talkin extra before Monica gets you! LOL!

momo925 said...

See! lucky you corrected that because I was about to go IN! lol
Oooh so ya think ya know me now aye?? Using the government?? Ha you're not slick, you probably just asked Brooke for it!LOL muhahaaaa haaa haa muhahahaa! :-)

Amanda-I pray for you mouth. :)

Monica- It's does not matter where I got the government from. The bottom line that I have it Ms. Gonzalez. Notice that I know your status as well. Don't let me have to put the Soc Sec # on the blog.

Remember, BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU! LOL!

So think twice about going in>

They shootin'! Ah made you look! LOL!

The Fury said...

and I quote Brooke "I just don't want to miss out on a great guy over a couple of inches..."

Now we know damn well the reason you want the tall ass man is because you think he has extra "inches" to share.

Brooke said...

Trust me - I've been with a tall ass man, and that doesn't mean JACK as far as "inches" are concerned LOL!

As a matter of fact, the guys who were shorter than me or my height had more "inches" than the one or two tall men I have dated.

"Inches" don't mean that much to me in the grand scheme of things if those "inches" are attached to a jerk. But we'll blog about if size matters in another blog on a different day :-)

momo925 said...

I said I was ABOUT to go in, but you knew better already so you did yourself a favor and corrected it LOL.

Now you REALLY went and asked for my government!!LMAO Now I have to get Mississipppi on you! "Those is fighting words" Rene! LOL sleep with one eye open! Watch yo back! :P

When it comes to "The Lock", it doesn't matter how many inches you have. Fighting "The Lock" is useless. You can't win if "The Lock" has been properly administered.

:-)

Brooke said...

You think so? I don't think "The Lock" would work on 2 inches...or 3...or 4 :-) HA!

Alright, stepping in at the end here... I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but for the record, T.I. is 5'9. Now before anyone says "reportedly", I'm 5'6 and I've had the pleasure of meeting him. I was like "NO WAY is he 5'9" as we were practically eye to eye, but later I realized I had on heels at the time and according to the mirror that happened to be there, he was still a little over me. Also, if you recall the BET Hip Hop awards that he did with Rihanna, Rihanna was just a bit over him and she had on heels with her 5'9 self. You would think she would tower over him if he was as little as he comes off.

With that being said, if I can't wear some heels and still feel like your li'l woman that can be protected rather than doing the protecting (lol), then I can't do it. Up until meeting him, I have to admit I did have a teensy bit of a crush on Tip. And though he has some really nice arms, the eye-to-eye thing did kill it. Completely. LOL And the reality is that smokers, which he is, can forget it.

Also, for most of my adolescent and adult life, I could not date light-skinned brothas as the majority of them look like someone in my family to me (I did say most as I have dated two dudes that were light but one of them got the can two days after a stranger asked me if he was my brother... lol... just jacked me up). Within the last couple of years, I have forceably pushed myself outside my comfort zone in order to give more brothas a chance to show me who they are on the inside, because that is what sustains me (though if things really connect, I do have to be able to wake up to a dream, not a nightmare-- you feel me?)

My sister also helped me realize I have a thing against pot/beer bellies. You know the fit brother with a pouch? Can't do it. LOL I'm working on that one though, but I do realize that after I make a note of a handsome face and a nice physique, my eyes zoom in on the belly like a movie camera-- trying to see if his clothes are loosely hiding something I should know about. I know. Horrible. LOL Wow, this is cathartic Brooke! Thx. I got issues, I know... lol

So those are the things that get me or prevent me to accept a date to see if a dude has a good personality and doesn't just want to talk shop. I hate for dudes to zero in on what I do or what he does (or both) and just want to talk about that. Makes me want to go crazy but it happens more than not.

Brooke said...

Kellie, you are so funny! LOL!!

We all have issues! All of us!

I had no idea T.I. was 5'9! He looks WAY shorter! But he's also skinny, so maybe that's why I thought he was shorter :-) He still looks like a baby to me. And he smokes? Yuk! I'd never date a smoker...NEVER.

Anonymous said...

Never say "never"... U know what evil forces like to do with that word...

Man, I tell ya, I don't know what I would do if I saw Brooke strolling up to some awards show on the arm of T.I.P. (by the way, for all of you true fans, he prefers T.I.P. because it spells his life-long nickname. He only uses T.I. out of respect for Q-Tip, although the shorter one is more catchy). Could you imagine? Of course it would only happen after Brooke beat down/stomped poor li'l 'Tiny' during her first fight ever. LOL Now that would be funny.

Brooke said...

Yeah, me strolling anywhere with him would be a sight to see :)

But then I'd have to stomp down Leesa and Sandee after I beat down Tiny! Not worth it! LOL!!

Geez, I never knew women were so particular about men. Height, size, color, build. Ladies short fat men need love too!! I mean not all men are fortunate to be as blessed as I am. God has blessed me with a little bit of height (6'4"), a little muscle (235 lbs fairly lean ) a little bit of sense (currently pursuing my Masters in Sports Marketing from NYU),a good career (NYU School of Medicine), and beautiful skin (chocolate like a Hershey bar), and as a bonus the good Lord has given me an intoxicating smile and dimples. I mean even with all of these physical attributes I always remain humble. I know that I am such a catch for black, Caribbean black, Hispanic, Indian, middle eastern, Asian and Caucasian women alike!! But, I digress. Ladies, it is important that you don't turn away from possible love due to the physical inferiorities of most men. Open your hearts and you will see that short, balding, dumb, fat men can too offer everything and more to fill your lives with joy and happiness. My ex has proven to be a testimony to this. She is no longer with me "the total package" and realized she could never reach the apex of men again, thus she had to settle and has found bliss with a short 50 year old muscle man. I believe he is about 5'4" and his nickname is Hef...Hefty...Hefty Smurf,oh I forget what it is, the important thing is that both of them are in true bliss! Ladies don't discriminate against these small boy looking men, you may be cheating yourselves out of true happiness and more importantly economic advancement. Look at what Tip "TI" Harris said "you could have whatever you like". To us big men that means, if I say no to you there is a strong possibility you could whoop my little ass!! I IMPLORE you ladies to go out and get whatever you like. Embrace the short man cause apparently out of fear for their safety they trickin'. Don't believe me, ask yourselves why TI was buying all those guns. Tiny was getting in that ass when he tried to man up!!

ROC

Ms. Princess said...

Brooke-lyn, I don't know if there's a particular type of man that I prefer, nor is there a type that I discriminate against. I love a man who's spiritually aware and God-fearing. The Bible says in seeking God we find ourselves. I don't need him to be righteous over-much but I'd like to share this journey with the man I'm going to happily-ever-after. I definitely appreciate an intelligent man - not a smart one. I went to school with smart boys all my life. The ones who can explain the anatomy of an atom but isn't versed on the Diaspora of my people. I always enjoy a man who may wear a suit to work but also has the know-how to build an extra room in his house or fix the plumbing or faulty wiring. That's such a turn on. The oft-talked about and discussed in salons and Terry McMillan prose but not seen, "intelligent/well-rounded" man.
As for physical attributes, I like a man who's as plain as the day he entered the birth canal. I don't care for earrings, long hair or tatts. The only thing I like to dress up or need to adorn is my X-mas tree. If I wanted a male with flash, I'd date a peacock. You really don't need angel wings tatted across your trapezius to show love for Tahiem from the block who "left too soon" or a pic of your late Nana on your arm. Buy a photo album.
I do find men with a little girth more attractive. I mean if you've known me @ any point in my life, you know I've never been slim or skinny. "Thicker than your average." I'd like a man who's comparable to me in size. Just in case a fire breaks out, I need him to be able to put Pranny over his shoulder and carry me to safety, ya know? Never have been much attracted to slim men but they have love a plus-size gal like myself. For that reason alone, I give them props. We need love too.
Sexiest body part: definitely the width of a man's back. Yum!
I guess I do have my preferences as displayed by my list above, but many slim bros with earrings, braids & tatts have pleasantly surprised me. That's all I have to say about that.
