Happy New Year!
And if you're back at work from a long break, then maybe it's not such a happy Monday :-(
But there's always something to be happy about right? Well, unless you're a Vikings fan :-) First things first, shall we? :-)
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. But I'm not just an Eagles fan, I'm a football fan. I'm a basketball fan. I'm a sports fan!
Yes, when it comes to the Eagles, I can sometimes have a slick mouf :-) I can talk more shiznit than a little bit. Trash talker? Yeah, that's me. I'll bet you, and I'll take your money :-) I'm the one yelling at the tv like, "you f*ckin a**hole!" when I feel the ref made a bad call. I'm the one who'll be seething for a few days after my team's heartbreaking loss. I'm the one teasing, "Eli (Manning) is adopted!" Yes, I'm that chick.
I was a tomboy growing up. I'd much rather race a boy down the street than do Barbie's hair. I hated make-up and high heels (still do), and boys were my competition, not my secret crushes. I played three sports from 6th grade to 12th grade - field hockey, basketball and track...and I wasn't too shabby. The guys would come watch me play, cheer me on, tell me the mistakes I made ("you should have followed through on that last shot, follow your shot!") and I was one of the boys.
It wasn't until I turned 15 or 16, when I started "rounding out," that they started looking at me a little differently. Then, I wasn't just "cool" because I was into sports, but now I was "cute" too. Maybe that's why I liked this movie so much :-)
A woman who's into sports too? Sexy ain't it?
Or is it?
I've heard some men say that their dream girl would be a beautiful, sexy woman who could talk sports with them all night while cuddling watching Sports Center. But I've also known men who say they wouldn't want a woman invading "their world." That sports is for them and the fellas, and the only thing she should be able to do is bring him a beer while he's watching Kobe. They want her to stay in "her" place while he's basking in playoff heaven. Sports is HIS escape...maybe from her.
Some men don't want a woman who may know a little MORE than him when it comes to sports, while others would brag to his friends, "Ask her anything, she's a sports genius!" Some men like it that their girl would rather watch a game instead of Ugly Betty, as long as she's not beating him in fantasy football. They don't mind that she's just as into sports as he is, as long as his boys don't start inviting her to watch the game at the bar too.
It's a fine line with some men. I think some men think they want a girl who loves sports just as much, if not more, than they do - but secretly...not really. I know a man who thinks women who are heavy into sports are "bull dikes" or "butch" and not "feminine" or "ladylike." Totally absurd, but that's what he thinks.
So...tell me...Men - do you find it sexy when a woman knows the difference between a zone defense and the Zone diet? Or do you think it's a turn-off?
Women - do you think that men find you MORE or LESS attractive if you walk around in a football jersey, cussin' at the stupid ref? Is he happy that you know more about sports than which team wears the cutest "outfits?"
Times have changed. Some men like a girl with a mean shoe game. Some like a woman with a mean jump shot (your girl was NICE!). Women can love to shop AND go to a game. And we can be sexy doing both. Personally, no man I've known has told me that a woman who likes sports more than he does is unattractive. But I think they know better than to say that to me anyway...you know, with my slick mouf and all. They don't want none ;-) Not sure if my competitive nature makes me more or less sexy ;-) but you know what...????
...I don't care...Eagles gonna whoop Big Blue's ass! Yeah...I SAID IT!

I'm first today! Welcome back everyone.
Hey man! You're at work early! I'm draggin' today :-( Now you know Nicole is gonna get on you for not commenting on the blog besides saying you're first right? :-)
Well, I didn't comment because I don't do sports. I'd rather read a book, watch a good documentary or movie, toy around on my "puter", go shopping (you know I luvs me some fashion), or play with a new gadget.
My siblings are BIG sports enthusiasts. But somehow, the sports gene skipped me. With that said, I have a question for the ladies: Do women love men who DO NOT love sports?
Holla back and let me know!
Hmmmm... that's a good one. I think the question is bigger than that. It's more about are their some things that you want to keep as your own and others you want to share with your significant other. For instance, it may not be sports... it may be Madden 09... it may be going to the strip club (not me of course...lol) But I think for some guys, they don't want their girl in everything they do.
I personally found it very attractive that my girlfriend took a football class (before she met me) in order to be able to relate to her potential man. When I heard that, it separated her from the rest of the crowd. I thought it was ratehr sexy to be honest. Now I'm not sure I'd be as comfortable if she's hollering and cussing at the screen (probably cuz I don't do that) When it comes down to it... I'm not getting paid. I have other things to be passionate about. but I do like to watch a game. And I think it's nice for for significant other to have an appreciation for the game. Maybe she's not watching the game on her own, but if we happen to be together on a Sunday..and the Steelers are about to get in the Cowboys A$$... it's tough to have someone sitting next to you not interested at all, and asking whats the big deal.
I think I rambled a lot. But so what. Hopefully, I'm officially first!
Good question Keefe! I do find it odd when I run into a man who isn't into ANY sport at all, but it's not like I wouldn't date him because of it. I know alot of men who aren't into football or basketball, but love pool, bowling, race car driving, etc. But I'm perfectly fine watching the game by myself :-)
Pretty Ricky, I hear you man. And I've gotten better at yelling and cussin at the tv, but some days... well..you know :-) I'm very passionate, let's just leave it at that :) But I think a woman who loves sports kinda sets her apart from most since it's assumed that sports is strictly a "man" thing. I think that's cool that she took a football class, she was ahead of the game! LOL!
Being the sports junkie that I am I do think its sexy as hell when a woman likes sports . Even sexier if she was an athlete or still gets in some sports herself. However my only stipulation is that if I do want to have a game or event day with strictly the fellas that its not an issue, I definitely believer everyone needs some me time
Oh, that's a given. Men need playdates too :-) We all do.
By the way, I notice I didn't get a congratulatory text from you on my Eagles ;-) That's alright, you can make it up to me next week when we win again :-)
I'm not into sports, but I do know enough to say that the Eagles will be defeated next week. That's right Brooke, the NY GIANTS will be victorious!!!!!
My bad Brooke congrats to your eagles on their win and advancing to the A$$ WHOOPIN their about to get from my GIANTS. GO BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUE!!!!
LMAO!!! I am cracking up. I am a HUGE sports fan yet managed to find the man that is least interested in sports!!!! LOL
Luckily for me my brothers, dad & his friends love sports soo I have enough people to talk with.
P.S.- Congrats on your eagles win Brookey BUT my Giants will be going all the way AGAIN this year!!! :)
I think women who love sports are UBER-sexy. I mean, especially if she really knows her ish...I have a best friend (yes, we used to date way back when) who honestly knows more than many men when it comes to football and basketball. And I find that incredibly sexy about her and girls like her.
While not saying this applies to all men, I think some of those guys who don't like women "invading their space" are a combination of Geico cavemen and insecure little boys. I could care less if a woman is up to speed on what me and my boys like - that just means she's comfortable around the crew. I personally wouldn't be attracted to a woman who just brought me beer as I watched the game, and then went into another room to get on the phone with a girlfriend or to watch some cooking show. I'd LIKE to enjoy things with her, personally.
And men who don't like ANY sports? We have a word for them where I come from...
Gay. LMAO!!!
Personally, I've always found women who wear green Donovan McNabb jerseys kinda sexy...
Field hockey, Brooke?
Come on, Field Hockey?
lol :)
1. I'm one of the miserable people... Coming back to work after 2 weeks off SUCKS!!!
2. E-A-G-L-E-S... EAGLES!!!!
3. In my life I have found that men "say" they want a woman who know their sports but then they turn on you. It always starts as a good thing until they discover that you are a real sports fanatic, then for some reason it becomes a problem.
For example, I dated a dude who got mad at me because I didn't want to eat brunch at a place that didn't have TVs... Ummm... The Eagles were playing at 1!!! Needless to say that was our last conversation.
On the other hand, my current BF loves that I love sports and I think that may actually be one of the things he most appreciates about me. So in this case (and this is the only time it hasn't become an issue) it's working to my benefit.
My best guess is a female with a sports addiction can only be truly appreciated by a man with a sports addiction.
Okay, I'm back (meetings on the Monday morning after 2 weeks off is WACK!) LOL!
Since I'm in NY and alot of you reading my blog are Giants fans, I'll let all these little comments go...for now. Giants will lose.
Rameer, you would have thought I was SOOO SEXY yesterday with my McNabb jersey on...I'll just assume you were talking about me ;) LOL!!
Keefe, since you're not into sports, you can't EVER talk to me about the Giants or any other team. And you lived in Philly for a hot minute, so stop frontin!
Renee, I totally hear you on men who SAY they like a girl who loves sports...but they really don't. I find that when most men discover I'm a sports fan, they immediately try to challenge me...just to see what I know. If we have a difference of opinion about something, it's a competition - but not really a "sportsmanship" competition...but more like a "boy/girl" competition (if that makes any sense). They can't just accept that I like sports or played sports, it has to be a "one-up" type thing, or they have to prove how much they know or how little I may know about a particular sport.
The guys at my job used to hate it when I would beat them in the football pool every week at work. They'd be like "who's helping you?" as if I didn't know enough about football to pick winners on my own. Just crazy talk.
Oh...and "Anonymous" - yes, FIELD HOCKEY! I was a left wing, and I could kick anybody's *ss - so don't make me break out my stick!
Renee - OF COURSE Papi loves that you love sports, my lil' sugar dumpling...Lol!
Brooke & Renee - sorry you guys have encountered so many men who say one thing about girls who like sports and act another way...we call them lames here in Buffalo! Hell - all my boys damn-near force their girls/wives to watch sports and gain some type of knowledge if they don't already have it!
The only time I've ever challenged a woman on sports in a serious context is when one was foolish enough to think they could beat me in basketball (that ish will NEVER happen - lol!). I'm not insecure enough to be threatened by a woman liking/partaking in "man" activities - which aren't really man activities at all, as all sports really is is a form of entertainment.
Lemme get off Brooke's blog before I become addicted...lol!
Oh...and I may have been referring to you, Ms. Dean...lol...
Rameer, STAY! get addicted! You're already addicted to "poking" me, so why not join me here too :-) LOL! Oh, and I could probably post your ass up in b-ball...I'm jus sayin ;)
I think it's dope for a woman to love sports and be knowledgeable about it as well....If you don't it's not a deal breaker but it'dope.
Congrats on the Eagles and the Ravens!
Both of your seasons will end this week though...Sorry!
I hope everyone had a great Holidays and are focused on having a great year!
What-EVA Rene! If we were playing ANYONE else, I'd host a little football party at my apartment, but there's no way I'll be in NY to watch that game...I WILL be going back to Philly so I won't have any NY heebeejeebees on me. The ONLY way I'll be here is if I get tickets to the game, otherwise, I'm OUT!
Brooke - NO WOMAN short of a WNBA pro can beat me. And I stand by that statement, having even played a few Euro league pros in my lifetime. Ain't no postin' up over here, lady!
But if you feelin' froggy, jump...I love betting women on one on one b-ball games and crushing them. I'm not one of those dudes who goes easy "just cuz you're a girl"...
Lol!
and I wouldn't exoect you to! We already established that I'm taller than you are...so IF you do beat me...IF....you won't do it easily!
Spoken like a true rookie. Taller than me...um, EVERYONE is taller than me that plays basketball. Ask an NBA player how much their height matters when trying to stop Allen Iverson...not too much.
Brooke...love ya...but I would DESTROY YOU. True story. And it would be extremely easy for me to do so.
POKE!!!
blah blah blah - you know you want me :-) Destroy? eh...NOT!
POKE! :-)
whats with all this "poking"?? stop it.
It's my blog and I'll "poke" if I want to :-) LOL!!
WOW step away for a bit and there's a whole bunch of poking going on
Rameer started it! he's a pesky little something! Always messing with me!
Happy New Year All!!!!!
Great question ~ This is a not brainer for me ~ Having your girl into sports is great and even better if they got game on the court too!!!! Totally sexy and no invasion of my space when they do love sports. I do agree there are time for guys night out.
Having things in commons is always cool...I have dated a few women who could get out on the tennis court, go scuba diving, go white water rafting, play catch with the football or baseball or shoot pool ~ wow!!!
Yeah ~ Ravens are team to watch...The Rookies are getting better with each game!!!!
Thanks Rene ~ Next week is going to be very interesting to watch. Hope your Giants aren't rusty * LoL
Okay Brooke ~ chest bump for your Eagles * They may be in trouble if Westbrook doesn't come with an A Game this weekend.
Congrats Brooke. Let's try to go to the bar to watch the game next week.
I think men love women who love sports until they find out that you know more about sports then they do. It's cool to have a sexy girlfriend who also loves sports until she makes you look stupid in front of your friends because your stats are wrong.
Personally, I cant date a man who doesnt like sports. I LOVE sports. I watch every sport that comes on TV, i enjoy playing sports, and i enjoy going to sporting events. Usually when i'm not doing something sports related i'm with my female friends.
Jess ~ Men and women should check the egos at the door!!! I am comfidant in what I know about sports ~ but if I'm shown wrong...got to give the props!!! Either Male or female ~ I always say I can learn something new everyday ~ no matter the source!!
You are going back to Philly just to to watch the game? Okay...
There are a bunch of Eagles bars in NYC...
oh yeah? where? I usually watch the Eagles play the Giants at Blondies, but not sure I wanna have any haters around me :-) LOL!
Jess, I feel you on not dating men who are into sports. It just seems unnatural! If I'm still in NY this weekend by some fluke, we'll get together!
Dre, you're so fly that I know you wouldn't be intimidated by a woman all into sports :-) Congrats on your Ravens!
Here's a link to find them all

Ok...ZAYBUGE is in the building!!
First off..Brooke it's obvious you are off your meds...the GIANTS!!! GO HARD!!!NYC!!!! The Pigeons will surely take an L...
Now, women who know sports, play sports and manage to mantain there femininity..are sexy.
Rameer dont sleep fam...I know for a fact that Brooke's jumper is cash money from anywhere on the arc.lol.
Thank you Zay, tell Rameer PLEASE! Zay knows my shot is money :-)
I'm not off my meds. Why are y'all acting like it can't be done!? We beat y'all 4 weeks ago...IN GIANTS STADIUM! Any given Sunday man, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY!
(Ahem) With all due respect, Isaiah - when it comes down to Brooke going against me in any basketball capacity...
"Partna - u ain't got no ins in mi casa!"
Like I said - I've played against pros who I've given the business to. I couldn't lose to her if I WANTED to.
And to you, Ms. Brooke...
POKE!!!!!
he's sleeping on me Zay. I like it like that.
Keep poking me and see what you get! Don't make me put my jersey back on!
GURL...I will poke you all night long, 'til the break of dawn...
I'm not sleepin' on you. I'm in a frickin' COMA over here when it comes to the thought of you even scoring on me...BAWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Oh yeah...one more thing...
POKE!!!
stop acting up Rameer!
and you REALLY believe I can't score against you? REALLY? 2 points? buffoonery.
You can't. And you won't. Maybe in Narnia, where you live...but here on Earth, unless you've got a combination of Allen Iverson's speed and LeBron James' leaping ability combined with Dwight Howard's strength...you got NUT-TIN'!!!
but I'll let you live in the magical world of Narnia, where women can score at will against very good, athletic male basketball players. Like there's absolutely no difference in physiology, and skill level, and ability. Where you figure that I might just take one play off, or let my male ego give you an open shot to take.
Yeah, I'll let you live there. Oh, by the way - Disney CANCELED the Narnia series a few weeks ago. Just something to keep in mind.
FOR NARNIA!!!
Lol...
POKE, POKE, POKE, BABY!!!
See what I mean...challenging me. All men inevitably do it :-)
Now we have to fight :-)
I know quite a few women who are into sports and their shoe game is serious --- heels, not sneakers. I think it's about meeting a guy in his realm. It's nice to know you can be met halfway sometimes, even if it's just a friend. Once it gets competitive I imagine it could be occasionally problematic. But otherwise it's all good. Nice post to kick off the year.
Thanks E! Yes, once it gets too competitive, it's no fun. I'll work on my shoe game :-)
OK I know I"m late, but my help went back to NY so I had to get back on schedule...Anyway I don't get the poke thing.....? And as for this topic I am a sports fan....not hard core though...I mean I pick the winner based on uniforms...and for that reason I think the Eagles will win next week.....anyho Rameer you are funny.....But I will have you know that Brooke slammed when she was in her hay day so you better watch out......ok next topic....
And you know what's funny about Nicole picking winners based on their uniforms? She's usually RIGHT! Dark green looks way better than cornball blue any day :-)
Rameer don't want none.
