Happy Hump Day!

Today is Day 3 of our Father's Day posts this week. Without further adieu, give it up to Austin "Powerz" Williams - Daddy extraordinaire to Jada, Aaron and baby Sophia! Let's go!

I am a Father. Better yet, I’m a Daddy...by Austin Williams.

fa•ther : A male person whose sperm unites with an egg, resulting in the conception of a child

I have 3 wonderful children. With that said, I am a Father. Better yet, I’m a "Daddy." When someone says you fathered a child, your responsibility can stop there and you will have still “fathered” that child. Think about it……

I can go on and on about how my kids instill more in me than I instill in them; how they teach me to be humble and grateful for what I have; how to enjoy every moment because time stops for no one. Every crawl, every step, every word creates a new memory that causes you to appreciate life that much more. But I won’t.

What I will do is tell you that I have lived many lives, and like Cable Guy, had to get a divorce in order to give my children a better life. I also tried to work on a marriage that was not meant to be. I listened to others and tried to stick it out for the kids, but I too realized they would not truly appreciate “daddy” if he did not have anything left to give. By mutual agreement, we separated - and now my kids get to enjoy their father...I mean Daddy. They let me know that in their own way: Gymnastics when my daughter says “Look at me DADDY.”

Baseball as my son hits it in the outfield, “Did you see that DADDY?”

In the morning as my infant daughter wakes up and says, “DADA, DADA”.

Being a Daddy is so important. This is how our children develop their values, how they learn between right and wrong. For a daughter, they learn how a woman is supposed to be treated. For a son, how to treat a woman. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Personally, I knew it would be hard to allow another man to be a father figure in my children’s lives, but I knew him for many years. We have a mutual respect for each other. I still know they are getting a better life than if their mom and I stayed miserable together. She has moved on, and so have I. Now my kids have a beautiful step-mom-to-be who helps me be a better Daddy as well. My life could not have turned out any better.

Happy Daddy Day to all you daddies doing the best you can. That’s all we can ask for.

And of course, a special shout-out goes to the man that made me the man I am today - MY DAD!!!!!!!!!

- Powerz

I've been so inspired this week so far by all the great fathers who have posted and left comments. It makes me look forward to fatherhood that much more.

As for Powerz, you are truly blessed. One only has to read the comments everyday to see what Annamaria thinks of you as a man, and as a father. She brags about you every chance she gets! I'm sure having that type of love from your family is motivation enough to be a great father and man everyday. One day I'll have that, and I'll be writing a father's day blog for Brooke one day :)

...when she finally realizes I'm her future baby daddy :) LMAO!!

Great blog man.

Okay, Brooke, I'll comment now :)

Congrats Powerz on being a "Daddy!" Your children are beautiful and you can tell even in photos what great kids they are. That Miss Jada looks like a firecracker! Aaron is a cutie and Sophia is adorable as we all know. It's great to see a wondeful blended family working it out.

This goes to show that just because a man or woman has a child already when you meet them, great things can happen and blessings can overflow. God bless you all and love the pic of Powerz and his daddy! Love it!

Ok who the hell am I kidding.. I can't stay quiet for long so here it goes:

Jay I don't brag about him every chance I get!!! LMAO.. OK MAYBE A LIL...
Brooke will see da light one day..

A lot can be said about Austin Powerz. But #1 is he is an amazing amazing father. Both of his daughters have him wrapped around their fingers. They LOVE their dad & he shows them every single day how they should be treated by a man. And Aaron already reminds me of his dad soo much. He has his calm cool attitude to a tee and I LOVE that kid because of it.
One of the things I love most about Austin is the way he is with his kids. BUT as I always tell him he is the man that he is because of his children. I fell in love with someone who would have probably been a completely different man had Jada & Aaron not existed. So I thank them for making him the man that I am about to marry.
We have a WONDERFUL blended family & although it sometimes gets hectic & rough I would not change my life for anything. I love all 3 of my babies. And I love their dad even more for bringing Jada, Aaron & Soso into my life.

P.S. Props to grandpa for not only teaching Austin how to be a man BUT for being an AWESOME grandpa & father in law. He truly is a man I admire a lot.. And truth be told if he lived in NY Austin might have some competition....LMAO

And props to my dad for teaching me what I want out of a man. For those of you that don't think a father shapes a woman are WRONG. Austin is EXACTLY like my father. He treats me exactly how my father would. And he treats our kids the way my father treated us. And anyone can see it. That is why he has the blessings of my parents! :)

Shout out to my boy Austin who set a great example of what a Daddy should be!!!

Props to all of you - Powerz, Captain Cable, D.Murray - for being exemplary representations of what a dad is and should be. You guys are truly inspiring.

And Props to Brooke-Ra for opening her blog up to allow the men who are fathers to share their lives and experiences. So often, men get forgotten about or taken for granted, outside of being the target of negative discussion as a result of the bad apples out there. I appreciate that a woman such as Brooke-Ra gives up props and her creative space to allow these men to show who they are.

God bless.

Thanks for the Daddy shoutouts my good people.
Thanks to Brooke for allowing us fathers to express how we feel and feel better about the empty restaurants on Father's Day knowing I have someone that could bring me there in appreciation of what I do as a father.
And of course thank you to my biggest fan A-Buzz who lets me know time and time again that my life would not be as enlightening as it is without her and her taser!

Hey if I don't remind you of how absolutely wonderful I am who will????

OH and I told you last night that I was going to put the taser down & now I want a BB gun!!! :)

I know you will have a wonderful father's day!!!! And next year we'll be getting married father's day weekend soo shit your life can't get much better than that!!!!!!!! LMAO

This whole week has been uplifting. Thanks to the men who have shared and being a Daddy.

My outlook on the future (since I'm single) has been brightened reading the blog this week :)

Powerz you are the bomb!

Annamaria...you're blessed.

Brooke I echo Rameer and the crew. Props to you my sista for allowing your space to be the home of father's this week.

Annamaria said...

Yep Serena I am blessed. Austin Powerz is an amazing dad, partner, friend, etc etc etc
By no means is he perfect. He does make me tase him from time to time BUT I am blessed to have him in my life.

Although one could argue that he's pretty darn lucky also!!! LMAO

The Cable Guy said...

you BOTH are blessed.

It's hard blending families. I know firsthand and can totally relate to his blog. I'm blessed that I have a good "baby mama" even though I consider her more of a friend than simply a baby mama. It could have been MUCH worse. I've heard horror stories from a couple of my boys who actually HATE their son's mother and dread going to pick up their child or deal with them in ANY way. It's sad, because it affects your ability to be the best parent you can be when you're always fighting with the mother, when she's keeping you from your child, or making it hard to spend time with them. Alot of dudes just give up, not because they don't love their kids, but because it's just easier than dealing with the drama from the mother. And in some cases, there's drama between the new woman in his life and the mother - and I'm so glad I don't have those issues. I consider Powerz and I to be exceptions in that regard, because so many adults let their own drama get in the way rather than doing what's best for the kid. You two are definitely blessed just like I am - and that should never be taken for granted.

Don't get it twisted cable dude.. The kids mother & i will NEVER be skipping down the street with BFF T-shirts on....
And she's done her fair share of stupidity...

AUSTIN & I just don't let it get to US & our relationship. And we certainly don't let it affect the kids & our relationship with them

The Cable Guy said...

Yeah see, that's crazy to me. Hopefully now she's grown up and can move on.
