Can a Man Be a Ho?

Happy Hump Day!

Speaking of humping and whatnot, I have a question of the day.

Me and the boo thang were having a discussion about "whoredom"...pronounced "ho-dum." LOL! I'm sure it's not a word, but let's pretend it is for the sake of this conversation.

Anyway, he said if a woman has had sex with about 8 men, 10 tops, she...in most men's eyes...would be considered a ho. He says it's not right, but that's the world we live in.

So of course I ask - "What number of partners would a man have to have in order for HIM to be considered a ho?"

His response?

No such number exists. Men aren't, or can't be, considered ho's because it's in their nature to bed as many women as possible. Women, on the other hand, are not "built" that way...so bedding a lot of men goes again nature, and therefore makes them a "ho."

I think most of you can guess my position on this - double standard. And I DO believe there is a number that even a man can reach that will get him the side eye. Think Wilt Chamberlain. Even if his 20,000 conquests is exaggerated, even a FRACTION of that number would land him in the Ho Hall of Fame.

So what say you? Can a man be a ho? And if so, what number of partners do you think would deem a man (or a woman) a ho - in YOUR opinion. It's all relative, so I'm curious to read your answers.

Let's go!

  2. @Stef... HAHA Sorry....

There is a simple answer to this question. HELL YES MEN CAN BE HO'S...
First of all I am not sure if there is a "specific" # for anyone male or female which automatically inducts them into ho status.. But there are men that are NASTY and can be considered hoes. Just like women. What's good for the goose is good for the gander BEOTCHES.

  3. OF COURSE a man can be a ho! Men are the biggest HO'S there are! Are you kiddin' me?

I know we are mammals, but we are humans as well, so the whole "it's in our nature cuz we're animals" excuse is ridiculous. We also have the ability to reason. Animals don't wear clothes, go into outter space, and have free will to make certain decisions that determine self control. Men are not exempt from "ho-dom."

And yes, there is a number. If a man has been with over 100 women, for ME, he's a ho. I know that number may be higher or lower for some other women, but for ME, that shows he has no standards, he just wants to lay with anything with a hole. That's just MY take on it.

As for a woman, I'd say the same number.

  4. Men can be, and ARE ho's. I hate that that term is only relegated to women. To me, a ho is a person with no standards as far as who they sleep with. I'm not saying men and women can't be sexual, but if you sleep around for money, with other people's partners, with no protection (if not in a committed relationship) or just have no morals about yourself - then you are a ho - man OR woman.

The number varies for person to person, but if you get into the hundreds, then you might need to run to the clinic.

  6. @V,

I was thinking the same thing. My heart hurts :(

Anyway, yes, a man can be a ho - it's just not frowned upon. It IS a double standard, but if a woman calls a man a ho, he probably will look at that as a GOOD thing, not a dis. Personally I wouldn't like it, cuz I just think the word has a negative feeling attached to it. Even if I WAS a ho, I wouldn't want to be called one. Maybe a ladies man, or something along those lines, but definitely not a ho - or a PIMP. That's for young dudes who haven't grown up yet.

  7. Yes, a man can be a ho. It's not just a term deemed for women, although it seems to be aimed at them the majority of the time. It's not fair, and personally it's insulting to use that term towards anyone. Who are we to judge who IS or isn't a ho. Number of sex partners can't always determine that. It's all relative.

For example, if you have 10 sex partners and you're 16, then that might be considered a high number. But if you're a 40 year old woman who has had 10 partners, I think that's relatively low - depending on when you started having sex. You can have meaningful relationships over the course of 20-25 years of having sex and have a number that is "high." If you have sex with one person a year, and the relationship lasts a year, that's easily 20 people. If you're 40, that's not high in my opinion. You can have sex with 2 people a year for 2 years, that's 40 people. Again, if you're 40, that's not a high number. Not to me anyway.

What it really comes down to is men don't want to imagine THEIR woman having sex with a lot of dudes, even though we don't consider that women don't want to imagine us banging 50-100 chicks in our lifetime either. It's not cool for us, so why would it be cool for them? Because it's not their "nature?"

Men hide behind nature as an excuse. We have the ability to exercise self control, we just don't for the most part. It's a maturity issue, not a nature issue. Once a man grows up and realizes that his manhood is not tied to his penis, then we can get rid of these derogative terms used to degrade women.

    I'm off my soapbox now.

  9. YES, a man can be a ho. Jay's response summed it up beautifully!

What happened to Fury and TMI Tuesday, it's March 14th, ya'll are late!

  10. Jay's response is great.

Let me just say that ho, hoe, or man whore is the same thing. I would like to say that I do not think that numbers can describe a mind set because that is what essentially what being a whore is.

Sure...a man can be with 10 girls in a period of like 10 years. But, how many times is he getting a blow job from other women? I love how we can say a woman is the whore for loving to suck dick but meanwhile we don't categorize the dick getting sucked.

I am willing to bet that any man doesn't really consider numbers when it come to oral sex...and that my friends is when you get into ho territory.

  11. Hi everyone! I was so missing Brooke's blog and here we go!!!

Jay, Jay, Jay...I love your response!!!!

Now I will also say as a few of you have said a ho to me isn't just in the numbers but also in the behavior because we all know men and women can have more than one at the same time and that's their perogative. They can't be with just one partner although they are in a relationship. Do people consider those folks ho's whether they say it up front or not? Some people will tell you from the door they are cool with sleeping around and some will hide it because they don't want their partners to know about each other.

Just a question and my 2 cents.

  12. That's a good question Serena! If you're upfront, are you still a ho?

  14. Being open about being ho still makes you a ho, you're just an honest ho :-)

  16. To me, it's not so much the number as it is the act. Whether male or female, if you are out there giving your snacks away to anything with a pulse that breathes in your direction, you may be on the road to ho-ville.

Also, if you are banging the brother, sister, cousin, best friend, and the aunts and uncles of your significant other or jump off, that's some ho ish.

Even if you walk with your chin up, you are still a confidant ho!!
